On the people and the distance between them as a risk and/or opportunity

Published On: 27/10/2020

There is only one reason to have this text before your eyes: You yourself.

You are on this page because you made the decision to open it. And since it is part of my website, consequently one of the following is true:

/ you are bored right now;

/ you have been bored recently;

/ you are interested in seeing “What is Desislava doing now …”

/ you do not care “What is Desislava doing now …” but you are simply curious and it is only natural that you should know what she is doing.

Whichever of these 4 points you have chosen, we are on the right track. Since most of my close or distant acquaintances who I phoned or emailed a year ago to tell them that I’ve changed my job from a communications to a life insurance consultant agreed to talk to me (live or over the phone) exactly for (one) of these reasons: either they were bored or curious to find out what Desislava is doing now…

These “meetings” were certainly meaningful. For each party. In time, relationships between people are faced with various challenges. I faced one myself, when I changed the topic I consult, inform and introduce people to. My work in the consultancy field related to personal finance is a process both for the Client and for me. The process does not involve guiding the Client how to spend their money, nor providing advice how to make a business more successful: rather it is about giving options for a Plan B.

From the distance of time (I terminated my work as a marketing/communications consultant over a year ago) and the distance between people (which would only increase after the Lockdown measures), I can share only my positive observations:

/ The world will not be the same it was a month ago;

/ The new circumstances will be merciless to those easily bored, curious without reason, critics and those preoccupied with themselves;

/ Every organization without experience in crisis management and unwilling to get external advice will self-destruct;

And most importantly:

… despite technology, without which nothing would ever be the way we know it, the actual economic and resources loss will impact everyone who does not value People and does not care for each and every one: employees, partners, friends, loved ones.

Thank you for reading this text even if out of boredom or curiosity, but please, give meaning, reason and substance to your next meeting with a Person. Even if this Person is listed in your Contacts as a Life Insurance consultant😉
